Do I need an account to play?
No, there are no accounts on Scono. You pick a username, a color, and an emoji when you join or create a room.
Is it free?
Yes, Scono is completely free to play. We may run ads to help keep the site updated and continuously free.
What do I need to play?
Just a web browser & an internet connection. Scono works on desktop devices, tablets, and mobile devices. No downloads are necessary.
How do I start a game?
Go to the homepage and choose whether you want to create or join a room. Creating a room means you'll be the host and have the ability to pick which games to play. Joining a room means someone else will host and choose the game.
Once you've created a room, you will see a list of available games to play. Click which one you want and hit Start Round to begin.
How do I join a friend's room?
Ask them for the room code or the link they're using. On the homepage, switch to the Join Room tab, enter the code, and you're in.
Can I play alone?
Most games are designed for groups. You can technically start a room by yourself but they won't be as much fun solo. However, feel free to play on your own if you want to practice.
What is Audience mode?
Audience mode lets audience members join the room, who aren't real players, but can participate in limited ways. It's useful if you're live streaming Scono and want to get your viewers engaged directly in what you're playing.
How many players can be in a room?
The maximum number of players in a single room is 20.
If Audience Mode is enabled, you can invite audience members. The maximum number of audience members in a single room is 100.
Can I watch without playing?
Only if Audience Mode is enabled and you join as an audience member. As a player, you're a participant in all the games.
The game is showing a blank screen or not loading properly. What do I do?
Try refreshing the page first. If that doesn't fix it, try clearing your browser cache. If problems keep happening, let us know via the contact page page.
A word I submitted was marked wrong but it should have been correct.
Some lists and categories could have tens of thousands of options, so it's very possible they are not totally complete! If your answer genuinely should have been accepted, head to the contact page and let us know which game and what the answer was.
Some games also use fuzzy matching that handles different capitalizations, accents, and plural forms.
